In today’s fast-paced world, it’s hard to keep up with the rapid advancements in technology, especially when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI). Yet, surprisingly in my view, the BBC reported a study the other day from the Reuters Institute and Oxford University suggesting very few people are regularly using “much hyped” AI products. Only 2% of UK respondents saying they use such tools on a daily basis.

This made me think about the two distinct worlds we live in today.

On one hand, we have the AI enthusiasts who are constantly exploring new tools and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. I count myself among these excited explorers. Just recently, I finished writing an AI guide that included tips on using ChatGPT 4. But wouldn’t you know it, ChatGPT 4.o is already here with even more incredible capabilities. It feels like every time we blink, there’s a new advancement to keep up with!

On the other hand, there’s a world that is aware of AI, but hasn’t quite figured out how to integrate it into everyday life. This is the world where people try to use AI for tasks like writing a blog and end up with subpar results. They’re left wondering, “How is this really going to save my time or help me in my day-to-day tasks?” It’s a valid concern, and it’s one that many share.

Danger ahead

The danger in this scenario is that those who embrace AI are the ones who will surge ahead. There’s a staggering statistic from Goldman Sachs that 300 million jobs could be lost or diminished by 2030 may be more indicative of the scale we’re expecting (see the graph below). That’s a near-term impact on 10-25% of the employed global workforce of 3.5B.

In addition, researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and OpenAI found educated white-collar workers earning up to $80,000 a year are the most likely to be affected by workforce automation.

This is a real concern in industries like marketing, where big departments are no longer necessary because individuals can accomplish so much on their own with the right tools.

The right side of the curve

So, what’s the lesson here? To be on the right side of the curve, you need to learn these tools and incorporate them into your daily life. Embrace AI, understand how it can work for you, and let it propel your business forward. By doing so, you’ll be able to achieve so much more than you normally do on a daily basis.

Let’s not be left behind. Let’s embrace the AI revolution together and use it to create a more efficient, innovative, and exciting future for our businesses and ourselves. 🌟
